Wednesday has always been Hump Day. It's like the top of a bell curve, where Monday and Tuesday are warmups with a bit of weekend relaxation still mingled in, and Thursday and Friday are cooldowns and full of weekend anticipation, but Wednesday is equidistant from the start and end of the week, and therefore enjoys no positive benefits. It is the "hump" of the mountain, and there's nowhere to go but down, preferably into an alcohol-filled pit of wacky hijinks.
