Despite the sweltering heat that is August weather (at least around here), this week's quiz is still up and running and waiting for you to play. Yes, you! You, right there, hiding in the back all lurker-like. We know you're there and watching. Come on out, give it a shot!

Meanwhile, this heat is so unreal, I'm hallucinating fuzzy creatures to wash down with a cold gin...

Go and play, before the heat melts us away!

Also, there's still time to support AL in her fundraising goal. Puns still available! Act now!

Heat? You want heat? Come down here to AZ, where it's a lovely 105 with 30% humidity every day, every July and August, every frikkin' year!

Add the heat to that the fact that it's my first day back as a teacher, I have meetings up the wazoo (Clint said it best in 'Heartbreak Ridge' when he referred to them as 'cluster fucks'), and students' first day is Tuesday (that's right, school starts on the 8th here), and I'm in immediate burn-out mode....too listless to even pun.

If I drank, I'd be suggesting that you all buy stock in Seagram's ASAP.

*end rant

Some of the signs here say '2 miles from California, 6 inches from hell'.

Fortunately, the monsoon humidity breaks in early September, and the heat breaks around mid-October, and then it's cool snow-free sweetness for about 6-7 months. Unfortunately, that's when the snowbirds flock here, creating a new kind of hell...polyester-clad, blue-haired, slow-driving hell.

And, being an Iowa transplant, I do miss not having snowdays...

Please. It's not the heat, it's the humidity. 90+ weather every day with 70%+ humidity every day here. :P

Lurker-like? I am insulted. I am an Olympic-grade lurker. If Bruce Springsteen had ever recorded "Born to Lurk," I would have been on the album cover. I've been lurking around the LJDQ since Monday, but I'm pacing myself and can lurk for the rest of the week if necessary, with still enough sullen menace left for a final burst of lurking around Friday night.

Oh, bugger this for a lark, I'll go do the Quiz already, then.

I really should've purchased a 2nd copy of that when I was stuck at Heathrow for 4 hours.

An friend was going to sell her paperback copy, and I said why? I have two: the hardback for home, and the paperback for traveling. She thought for three seconds, then took it off the for sale site. :D

I chuckled when I heard the phrase 'Born to Lurk'. Did you by chance read Neil Gaiman's and Terry Pratchett's novel 'Good Omens'?

And you realize, of course, the wealth of Ewok puns out there.

Take Ewok on the wild side and try some! They're even better when they're stir-fried in...well, you know...
