Lyndon Johnson? Dan Quayle?
May. 11th, 2006 09:53 amThe month of May rewards us with pleasant weather, but for many that weather is wasted while students work hard to prepare for finals and other end-of-the-semester objectives. That's a lot of hard work you all have going for you there. But remember, all work and no play makes Jack a dull quizling; go on, take a study break, and answer some easier questions in the form of this week's LJDQ offering. It'll only take a few minutes. Go on now, do it. You'll feel better. Refreshed and revitalized, even. See if you don't.
If you want to cool off during the month, maybe these guys are your speed:

I wonder if penguins are tasty. Good enough for sea lions, good enough for me, I say!
Play the quiz! It's good for you!
Disclaimer: In no way is the
ljdq actually good for your studious habits and scholarly pursuits. Do your work, kiddies.

Date: 2006-05-11 08:56 am (UTC)And you know you live in Arizona when 'air conditioning' is referred to as 'refrigeration'. I am not making this up. We're expecting our first 100+ degree day here today, too--the first of, oh, about 120 of them. Huh-frikkin'-zah.
Oh, and always hit a soft 18 against a dealer 10.

Date: 2006-05-11 10:06 am (UTC)I'd always heard it was nasty, so never drank it, but my husband loves gin and tonic, so he bribed me into having one. I've been making them for him forever, but never tried it.
Sort of like drinking very yummy horse liniment. Maybe it was horse liniment...*goes to check the bottle* Nah, it's Gordons. Unless they put horse liniment in there. *ponders*

Date: 2006-05-11 01:05 pm (UTC)Get thee
1 bottle of Bombay Sapphire (shell out the dough)
1 bottle Nellie and Joe's Key Lime juice (not the kind from the little green plastic bottles, real Key Lime juice)
2 1-liter bottles of your favorite tonic
1 64-oz 7-Eleven Mega-Gulp cup
Buncha ice
Fill the glass halfway with large ice cubes. Fill between 1/3 and 1/2 with the Bombay. Pour a healthy amount of Nellie in there (But not too much, this isn't lime-aid). Fill the rest with tonic. Stir and enjoy. Make 1 (one) serving.
While we occasionally mix smaller versions of this, I heartily endorse the imbibing of the full-size Bombay Nellie as a way to pass the evening and possibly your dinner.

Fresh limes are tasty, but sometimes we're too lazy for that whole cutting-up-fruit fiasco.

Date: 2006-05-11 11:29 pm (UTC)Did you know that here in Australia the famous "Fairy Penguins" of Phillip Island have now been re-named "Little Penguins" for fear that people in the gay community may become offended by the use of the word 'fairy' ???!!!
As a member of the gay community that caused me to reach for my handy bucket and become heartily sick.... as someone who is a bit vertically challenged myself, I wonder how those who suffer from Dwarfism feel about the name change??
Comments? Anyone want a lend of my handy bucket?
