Cymbals have straps that can fit under the dorsal guiding feathers over the flipper type wings. He can totally be holding that instrument.

Given the slick nature of the wing tips, and that they have a streamlined shape, wouldn't they slip off? If not, then this image is even more awesome than hitherto considered.
